Theme List Cards

A couple of weeks ago, I was poking a bit at my software to create Warmachine lists, and ended up on a tangent about a nice way to represent Warmachine Theme Lists. In particular, I wanted something that would be easy and convenient to bring to the table – quite unlike their current form which exists only in the Forces of Warmachine books or spread out over a number of No Quarters. Since I needed to brush up on my Strange Eons skills for some Dune updates, I decided it was well worth my time to make a plugin to create Theme Lists Cards, so I did.

The goal here was to to keep it as simple as possible, and this is what I came up with:

Wolves-of-Winter-1 Wolves-of-Winter-2

With the simplicity out of the way, there is certainly room for extra frills. I thought about having a portrait of the caster on the front (the side that lists the allowable models), but I not sold on the idea and I don’t have the assets handy, so I skipped that for now. The other main thing that was notably different was the fonts – as a hobbyist game designer, I always notice when the fonts are not right on home-brew expansions, so it’s something I would like to add to my cards at some point. Again, it’s a small detail, but one I want to think about implementing at some point.

Still, I’ve got my plugin to a state where I can use it for Khador and Circle Orboros, and have a definite path forward for everything except Convergence of Cyriss. Once I pull in the other templates, I’ll probably release it and think about portraits and fonts later. I met my goal though, which was to brush up on writing a plugin for Strange Eons 3.0, and I’ve got Zerkova’s theme lists ready to bring to my next Warmachine game.
