Alright – it’s time for me to take a look at the things that I said I was going to do this year and see whether I accomplished those things. For those who haven’t joined me before, each of the six items below gets a simple pass/fail, and then I look at my overall average to see how I did.
This is part two of my top ten short stories that I’ve read over the last few months. As I’m not a big fan of ordered lists of things, these are in no particular order, but I still recommend you check out my prior post (though whether you do it before or after this one shouldn’t make that big of a difference. If you’ve been paying attention to the goals on the right sidebar, you may have noticed I’ve reached my first – I’ve read (mostly listened to) 101 short stories. What I’m particularly proud of, in this case, is that I’ve read 101 short stories in 101 days, which was something of a sub-goal that I really hoped to reach as part of this one. It feels good to have listened to and rated all these stories, and I can definitely say I’ve enjoyed getting back into science fiction short stories.
Of the ones that I’ve listened to or read this year, the next couple of posts will be short reviews and recommendations (in no particular order). I’ve provided links to the ones at Escape Artists, so hopefully, if one sounds interesting, you can listen to it for yourself. Continue reading 101 Short Stories in 101 Days – Part 1→
It’s been another year, so now it’s time to set my resolutions for 2018. As I think about this a bit, I’ve always been a bit ambitious in my resolutions, and my success rate isn’t great… …But, I’m going to continue that trend anyway. Here’s what I’m going to try to accomplish in 2018. Continue reading Looking Forward into 2018→
Ok, the fact that you made it this far means you are actually interested in what I am planning for 2017. After all the looking back I’ve done in the last couple of weeks, it’s time to look forward, and try to figure out what I’m going to try to accomplish in the coming year. Now that 2017 has arrived, I want to take one final look back at 2016, and see how I measured up to the goals that I set for myself in the first week of the year. Some seemed ambitious at the time, while others seemed like they would be easy pickings, but looking back, it was much more difficult to predict what would trip me up.
Just as I looked back at 2015, I am also looking forward into 2016. I’m not really a goals-oriented person, but I wanted to write down some of the things that I want to do in 2016. Of course, life changes, so I’m not sure I can really levee these as expectations of my future self, but they are things that I plan to make time for this year.
Finish a Game Design Project
Last year, I started and completed Ticket to Ride: Iceland. This year, I want to complete another project and get it printed. I have a couple of smaller projects that I have designed from the ground up that I could finally get printed, or, alternately, I may make myself a copy of Dune. In either case, I want to create something cool this year. Continue reading Looking Forward into 2016→
Thoughts are stripped of their texture to form words that they might be colored by the mind of another.
