It’s New Year’s Resolutions time, so it’s time for me to put together my new list for 2019. Some of these will be familiar by now, but I also have some new ones that I hope will make the new year be a little different than the last.

Looking Back at 2018 – Resolutions
Alright – it’s time for me to take a look at the things that I said I was going to do this year and see whether I accomplished those things. For those who haven’t joined me before, each of the six items below gets a simple pass/fail, and then I look at my overall average to see how I did.
Here it goes, in the order that I put them on my list: Continue reading Looking Back at 2018 – Resolutions
Looking Back at 2018 – In General
This time of year is always a time for me to look back and figure out how the year went. When I think about it, there’s always the stuff that I intended to do, and the stuff that I did in the in-between. I’ll write about my resolutions in the next post, but here I just wanted to write about how everything that wasn’t what I was planning at the turn of the year. Not Writing So Much…
Hey all – as you may have noticed, there has been somewhat less content over the last few weeks compared to my normal writing cadence. This is not so much a lack of things to write about, but more that I haven’t been making as much time to write (between vacations, visiting family, and other goings-on). That being said, it is my plan to get some words out about a number of movies I’ve watched recently, the book I just finished reading, and another bit about something that’s been bouncing around in my head. Regular writing will resume just as soon as I can get back to a regular life cadence.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – Part 2
After re-acquainting myself with Jung Typology again, I spent a bit of time taking a few more inventories, and looking over a few more resources for what the typology community thinks of INTJs. I was surprised to find that there are a lot of good free resources out there, so reading material was not in short supply.
What was interesting to me, however, is that even with that breadth of reading material, the results often didn’t feel like much more than the kinds of answers a con-man might provide. Continue reading Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – Part 2
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
I recently took an online Myers-Briggs Personality Types assessment, and it came back with my type being INTJ – Introverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging – aka, The Mastermind (by David Keirsey’s temperaments) or The Architect (if you’re using the NERIS type explorer). This wasn’t too surprising to me, I’ve taken the assessment at various points in my life and gotten the same thing, but, what was surprising to me this time, is where I fit on the more fine-grained scale, as this has shifted dramatically over the last 13 years… Continue reading Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
Looking Forward into 2018
It’s been another year, so now it’s time to set my resolutions for 2018. As I think about this a bit, I’ve always been a bit ambitious in my resolutions, and my success rate isn’t great… …But, I’m going to continue that trend anyway. Here’s what I’m going to try to accomplish in 2018. Continue reading Looking Forward into 2018
Looking Back at 2017 – Resolutions
As usual, I’m taking the last post of the year to review my resolutions and see how I did. Here’s the page pulled out of the sidebar: Link Continue reading Looking Back at 2017 – Resolutions
Looking Back at 2017 – In General
Well, here it is, the last week of 2017, so it’s time to kick off my retrospective of the year. All things considered, this year was pretty decent to me if a bit on the rough side. I made some pretty significant life changes, and managed to come out the other side in good spirits.
Here are a couple of sweeping generalizations around how 2017 worked out: Continue reading Looking Back at 2017 – In General
My Alma Mater
I recently got the chance to go to Colorado Mesa University and sit on a panel of other graduates to talk about our current position and educational trajectory. This was a lot of fun for me for a few reasons, the least of which was not that, for me, talking to students and talking about my job are both a ton of fun. Continue reading My Alma Mater
