Rubik’s Tangle

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time lately with my V-Cube.  I’ve been fairly proficient at solving the first two layers of a cube for quite some time, but the last layer was always difficult, and I would end up needing to pull out my copy of “Speedsolving the Cube” to perform those last few algorithms.  I’ve finally memorized them now, and I’m taking the time to solve my cube once a day to help commit them to memory

However, every time I think of Rubik’s Cube, I think about Rubik’s lesser known, but more fun (for me) puzzle, Rubik’s Tangle. Continue reading Rubik’s Tangle

StarCraft II Thoughts

A while back I picked up StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void.  I’ve been waiting for this game for quite a while, as I’ve been a fan of Starcraft for a long time (I started playing it back when I was in high school), and I’ve always been a dedicated Protoss player.  Also, the thing that I always enjoyed most was the story-driven campaign play – that is the reason that I keep buying these games – to continue experiencing the story. Constructing Minecraft Superstructures

I recently got back into Minecraft, and, of course, the first thing that I started was a project to build a superstructure.  For some, the projects I build are probably not considered “superstructures”, but, for me, they are large enough to require a significant resource investment (more than a chest of dedicated materials) and time investment (a while).

The catch, of course, is mixing my time between building my superstructure and gaining the resources to complete it.  For me, building a superstructure is exceptionally fun – doing the design, determining how much materials will be needed, figuring out logistics (how to get the materials from where they are to where the structure is located), and doing the actual build (including how to avoid dying when the structure is tall enough to kill you with a single fall).  The astute will notice one missing piece…  …The actual mining of materials.

While this is (quite literally) the name of the game, for me, it has always been secondary to the actual crafting.  In particular, as my ideas for the project grow, my motivation for finishing the project drops because the time to get the resources becomes too high.  In the past, my answer to this has been to create the necessary resources or put myself into creative mode to finish – we’ll see what I can accomplish this time around before getting to that point.

Weyland: Constructing Real Space

I’ve been playing  a new Weyland deck recently, based around the identity “Because We Built It” and Weyland’s nice selection of advancaeble ICE – of course including Orion, Wormhole, and Nebula (why not Asteroid Belt?  Stay tuned).  The goal behind the deck was to play around with Constellation Protocol and use the counters on the cost-reduction ICE after they’ve been rezzed to make the other advanceable ICE more powerful.

Decklist after the jump. Continue reading Weyland: Constructing Real Space
