Warmahordes Painting – Week 3
I am totally guilty of a false start on the painting blog posts, so this one… …Came late and is finally ready to go out.
I started off the summer league well – I had plans to paint, to blog my way through it, and everything. Unfortunately, I ended up needing my normal writing time to do the design work needed to push the league forward (which was happening a bit more last minute than I would have hoped). Switching to Irregular Updates
It’s been a week and a half since my last post, and here I am again with a post about the blog. I haven’t really been prioritizing my writing as much as I have in the past, mostly because I have other things I’m spending that time on for now. As I mentioned before, it’s not for lack of things to write about, but I’ve decided that it’s just not my top priority any longer. So, rather than feel bad about not posting regularly, I’m changing my setup to irregular updates for the time being.
I’m not shutting down my blog, and I’m not going away, I’m just planning on writing less often, and am not going to promise a regular schedule. Once I figure out my new patterns, I’ll probably get back to writing at least at some regularity, but, for now, expect only irregular updates when I really want to write. I’ll likely update my resolutions on the right for those that are really observant, mostly because that’s less effort than a full post (and also it helps keep me on track), so if you’re curious, you can always stop in and check that.

A Trilogy of Hobbits
I recently did a movie marathon with Brooke where we watched the three Hobbit movies: An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, and The Battle of the Five Armies. I’d only ever seen the first movie of the trilogy prior to this event, and that was immediately after I’d read the book. It’s been five years now, so I have a slightly different perspective, but, as someone who liked The Hobbit, you can expect me to have words about this film.
This review is a bit tricky because I very much have two opinions on this trilogy of movies – as The Hobbit, a concise novel that I know and love in its original form, and as eight hours of visual entertainment that stands on its own. The Pseudopod Tapes
This week, you do get two media posts in a week, because I recently finished reading The Pseudopod Tapes by Alasdair Stuart. I heard about this book from Alasdair while listening to Escape Pod, and I’m really quite glad that I did, because this book was awesome – I enjoy listening to Pseudopod and the outros make the podcast that much more amazing.

Brave
I haven’t really sought out Disney animated films over the last few years, instead waiting for them to come to me for various reasons. Brave is a pretty good film with story that’s at least a little off the beaten path, but close enough to standard faire to be unobtrusive.

Not Writing So Much…
Hey all – as you may have noticed, there has been somewhat less content over the last few weeks compared to my normal writing cadence. This is not so much a lack of things to write about, but more that I haven’t been making as much time to write (between vacations, visiting family, and other goings-on). That being said, it is my plan to get some words out about a number of movies I’ve watched recently, the book I just finished reading, and another bit about something that’s been bouncing around in my head. Regular writing will resume just as soon as I can get back to a regular life cadence.
The Cuckoo’s Egg
I recently finished reading the Cuckoo’s Egg by Cliff Stoll. This one has been on my list for a while, when my friend Cam recommended it many years ago. It somehow never made it to my list because, well, it’s not science fiction, and I used to have a lot less time to read.
