I’ve been reading up a bit about the new Magic rules changes (thanks XIV!), and noticed that a favorite of mine got mention, but no new errata: Braid of Fire.
When I put Braid of Fire in my Coldsnap deck, it was part of a larger infrastructure that would allow me to bleed off unneeded mana to allow me to pay the upkeep without suffering mana burn. At the time, it was fun to manage everything, and gave the deck a clever use. Now though… …Braid of Fire is actually much more powerful. With no mana burn, there’s no need to bleed off that mana if it wouldn’t normally be used, instead, it can be cast early in the game and just wait for it to be useful. Not that I’m complaining, but, I may need to put together a new deck design – something that’s a little bit more fun.
