Mosaic-a-Week: Nicol Bolas

Last week I talked about Arcades Sabboth – the general I would have used if I played EDH 15 years ago in my hayday of Magic playing. Today, I thought it would be worth mentioning who I would be most likely to pick if I were to build an EDH deck today: Nicol Bolas.

These days, I play a lot more red then I did back then (well, actually, I didn’t play red (or black for that matter) at all back then – I either traded or gave them away to my friends who did), and the only Elder Dragon Legend who has both blue and red is Nicol Bolas. That’s not to say that the black is not a welcome addition, however; I thoroughly enjoy the discard and mind games that black tends to play, and I feel that it’s a good combination with blue (oh no you aren’t) and red (that won’t be there for long). That, and it’s really hard to argue with a 7/7 flyer that makes you discard your hand. Options: <poof>.

I guess I could have mentioned by now (if you haven’t figured it out already), you can click on the mosaic for a larger image.

I have a few more mosaics lined up for the weeks ahead, but if you want to see your own EDH general here (or any other card for that matter), definitely let me know. As you can guess, without your interest, it’s unlikely to happen.
