Pathfinder ACG: Burnt Offerings

I recently finished the Burnt Offerings adventure – the first adventure in the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path.  In it, we gutted a goblin, strung up a sorcerer, destroyed a druid, and clocked a cleric; all of it to keep the people of Sandpoint safe.  My decklists and a blurb about the defeat of Ripnugget and Stickfoot below.

For the second half of Burnt Offerings, I basically loaded Kyra up with swords, which turned out fairly well.  After she got weapon proficiency, they became exceptionally deadly weapons in her hands.  For her spells though, I’m less sure – Fiery Weapon is nice, but requires both the spell and another weapon in hand to make it work, that conditional makes things a little less useful than I would like.  If I get the chance, I will probably swap that out for a clerical attack spell to help my attack consistency.

Harsk is doing pretty well, and has basically been my villain killer.  I need a bit more support/utility out of him though, so I went with an item card feat.  Unfortunately, I’ve seen so many spyglasses come up, it’s a little ridiculous, so I hope I can get something better for that slot soon.

Ezren’s spell slots are pretty good, but I decided I wanted to make his attacking a bit more consistent, so I dropped another attack spell in there.  Most of them are still basics, but hopefully I can get some better stuff in there soon.  His power feat also makes his spell stuff a bit more consistent which is nice – it was really a pain to have no attack spells, and the only expendable thing in my hand being followers (which would allow me to explore, but I didn’t really want to because if a monster came up, I wouldn’t have anything to attack it with).

The showdown against Ripnugget and Stickfoot at the City Gate was pretty epic in my mind.  After all the other locations were closed, Harsk arrived at the City Gate, and the top card was Ripnugget and Stickfoot.  He had his trusty heavy crossbow in hand, and went to work.  On his first roll (2d10+4), he got two tens, which exploded to a nine and an eight…  …Ripnugget was very dead.  Not thinking that I would get as lucky again, Kyra used a Blessing of the Gods on the second roll, providing 3d10+4 – he got two nines and a ten, which exploded to a five.  Yeah, Stickfoot was quite dead as well.  I like to think that Harsk brought a ballista to this fight, rather than a normal heavy crossbow and simply obliterated the goblin and his mount with a pair of well-aimed shots.
