With the help of some friends, I recently convinced myself to pick up the Arkham Horror Living Card Game. I’ve played through a couple of the scenarios at this point, and it’s pretty enjoyable. It’s different enough from the Lord of the Rings LCG that I think I’ll enjoy doing at least one campaign of it. With The Dunwitch Legacy coming out, and having already picked up two copies of the core box and a couple of standalone adventures, I decided it was time to organize my box.
First, I (of course) made tabs for all the different types of cards. With the scenarios, I found that having the various encounter cards organized by symbol and name really helps with finding the cards, which is a bonus. The gotcha here is that some of the encounter decks are super small – like two cards. This can make the tabs run together a bit, but I’m going to see how it goes. If push comes to shove, I may simply try to do multi-stop tabbing rather than just two-stop. I’ve uploaded the tabs to the tab section of my site – feel free to print yourself out a set, though be aware, I’ll be updating them as new expansions hit.
The other thing that I did was create token bins. This was pretty cool, as it is exactly the use case that makes having a 3D printer so neat – I had an idea for a token bin that was the height and width of a card on its side (like what one might find in an LCG), so I designed it in Sketchup and printed some out. These turned out pretty well, though I may sand them down a bit so that they are a little smoother on the bottom. Overall though, they fit my goal – they fit in my box just as if they were a bunch of cards. I’ve added these to my Thingiverse account, so if the idea sounds interesting, feel free.
Here are some pictures of my box all organized up (with lots of blank space for the expansions):
