A bit over a year ago, Jessa and I started the journey to get a new Geekchic table; last week, it finally arrived. It’s notable that this year is our five year anniversary – the “wood” anniversary, so our table is the perfect new attachment to our home. Pictures after the jump.
We ordered an emissary which is their Swiss army knife table, and it’s true, they have a ton of options. For our table, we went with rails all the way around (that’s what the cup holders are attached to) and a shallower vault to give more room underneath the table. The top inset is aubergine felt, and below that is a stars and nebulae poster under an acrylic sheet. We can take the poster out to have a white background instead of the stars and nebulae and use the acrylic sheet with wet/dry erase should the need arise.
During setup, the delivery guys asked me what our inaugural game was going to be. The first game that came to mind was Talisman, followed by Kingdom Death: Monster or Arkham Horror. At the end of the day, Jessa and I decided to play Talisman.
While we initially set up to play the new Cataclysm board, we ended up playing with the Harbinger instead. It was a great time, and we murdered the Beast that was at the Crown of Command (our final combined strength was 36 to his 18, and we rolled 3 dice to his none). I look forward to many more games on this table, and having friends to share it with!
