As you might have guessed, if you’ve made it this far, I’ve got a blog. What this means is actually two-fold – first, it means that I can start writing on a reasonably regular basis, but it also means that I have set some goals to do so. The big question is then, Why?
The first reason is that I really enjoy writing. As strange as that might seem coming from a Mathematician/Computer Scientist, it’s true; writing is something I truly enjoy doing. It’s a creative outlet (even if what I am writing is not necessarily creative, I like that I can be creative with the language), it’s a mental outlet (all those things that I think about that I can’t write anywhere else), and it’s a physical outlet (it exercises my fingers when I’m too restless to read, but too mellow to run a marathon).
More than that though, I like writing for someone other than myself. Here, my reasoning for writing takes a different turn – If I am writing just for myself, I usually forgo writing at all and just think. This has the side effect that I don’t have anything to look back upon when I’m done with that thought. Sometimes, that’s a good thing; other times, not so much. So, I’m using you all (if you’re reading this, or anything written after this) as motivation to get me to write.
So, here’s my goal – to write something meaningful at least once a week. By meaningful, I mean something more than just a random thought that came across my desk. That’s not to say that I won’t post those too, but I want to have something with content at least once a week – whether it be a piece of flash fiction, a rant, thoughts about math, or whatever I happen to be working on at the time.
We’ll see how that goes, and hopefully, in time, I’ll have written some things worth reading by you, and, in the future, by me.
Have Fun
