Starting Up Rise of the Runelords

I recently pulled out my copy of the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords – I’ve decided I’m going to work through this adventure path for my 2017 New Year’s Resolution to play through a campaign.  It has 33 scenarios across 7 adventures, and my current plan is to blog my decklists and any notable encounters after each adventure.

My current party consists of Harsk, Ezren, and Kyra.  This shouldn’t be too surprising a lineup for anyone who knows me.  Clerics are my favorite AD&D class, and I’ve been playing clerics in some form or another for almost as long as I can remember (I’m pretty sure a cleric was my second character, the first being a gnomish cavalier).  Harsk is another obvious choice as I do like dwarves and rangers – both the dwarves from The Hobbit and Strider from Lord of the Rings were big influences on me in this arena (strangely enough though, halflings and rogues never really were).  Finally Ezren was a character that I have wanted to play since I got the Pathfinder ACG, but he never fit into any of the groups that I ended up playing with; in that sense, I’m quite excited to get to both play him and have him fit nicely into the party.

In terms of setting up my box, I’ve decided that I am going to use the Cleric, Ranger, and Wizard class decks, but not the character add-on deck for Rise of the Runelords.  I didn’t want to bloat my box too much with lots of things, though I am going to miss some of the goodies, and probably a little bit of padding in the monsters and barriers.  I’ll have to see how it goes after the base set adventure – if I find that I need just a little bit more, I may add it back in.

I don’t have a static day of the week planned for this just yet, but I will be tracking my progress on the right.  We’ll see how it goes!
