Warmachine Journeyman – Week 2

Week 2 was pretty slow for the Warmachine Journeyman league, but I managed to get in two games, and get a model painted, so overall a success.  This week was still zero point battle box games, and I played both games with my brother, William.

At this point, I had a pretty good handle on what my army could do, and I was able to position better than I have in prior matches.  In particular, I was able to get my driller into a position to be a threat – a helpful strategy.  In the first game, I took apart Will’s Nephilim and Neraph at which point Kryssa decided that it was a good time to assassinate Ossrum.  And it would have been too, if I hadn’t been camping quite so much focus (and I got to feel how the new overboosted warcaster armor works).  Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough for Kryssa, and the impending doom of a driller was more than she could handle – finally a win and my record goes to 1 and 3.

In the second game positioning was much harder with not as much room to shoot stuff.  Even though I was able to get rid of William’s warbeasts again, I was on fire most of the game (and not in a good way) which was taking it’s toll on my caster and gun bunnies.  I should have known better at this point, but I thought (for some reason) that I would be able to assassinate with Ossrum…  …And that failed.  So…  …Guess what a failed assassination leads to?  A counter-assassination, which was pretty brutal, and I lost.  This game didn’t count for the league, but it put my overall for the first segment at 1 and 4 (out of 5 games).

Finally, I did get one of my warjacks painted for the bonus win this week – my Ghordson Driller.

When I first started painting this model, my goal was merc-ish looking with Khador highlights.  However, after I got the first couple bits painted I realized it was more Khador looking with merc-ish highlights…  …So I went whole-hog and ran with it!  I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, and I’m looking forward to the rest of my dwarf army, or, as Ian would call it, my Khadwarf army.  I can dig it.
