Mosaic-a-Week: Azorius Keyrune, Azorius Signet

azorius-keyrune-1azorius-signet-1As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of Magic’s cycles. I’m also a huge fan of Ravnica – it was the block that I started playing Magic in the second time, and I really liked all the pieces that went into it. Because of this, I decided to double-up on mosaics for this particular cycle of Ravnica goodness and do a mosaic from the new set and a mosaic from the old set – Azorius Keyrune and Azorius Signet.

When I was trying to decide what cycle I would do for my first mosaic cycle back, I looked at the main cycles in Return to Ravnica: Charms, Guildgates, Guildmages, Guild lands, Guild lords, and Keyrunes. I chose the keyrunes because they all shared a specific style and color patterns that I thought would look particularly good as mosaics. I also like how the keyruns pair with the old signets – so it was another excuse for me to do more mosaics in a short time. Since I love the Azorius anyway, and this particular keyrune looked awesome – I’m bringing it to you first!

As for what Niv-Mizzet is doing in the middle of the Azorius maze is anyone’s guess…
